The word "Cyprus" or "Kypros" as it is in Greek is a very old one and means "Copper". The relationship between the island and copper supply goes so far back it's not known if the island is named after copper or the metal is named after the island. At first glance this might just look st a fairlyy average Cypriot national shirt but Diadora added a nice touch to this one. The yellow flashes on the shoulders is actually a stylised depiction of Cyprus and the green line represent the political division of the island as a result of the 1974 military cup and Turkish invasion. It's unusual for something so fi=rivilous and prosaic as a football shirt to commemorate such a recent and still raw event which the people of Cyrus are still living with to this day.
