I'm indebted to Kevin McKenna, a business associate of my father, for this rather nice little collectors item from Dumbarton. Its a shirt which served them both as an away shirt and a third shirt and is loosely based on the club's kits of the late 1960s and 1970s. The elephant on the badge is apparently meant to represent Dumbarton Rock, a long since extinct small volcano above the town on the banks of the River Clyde. I have driven past that rock countless times and while it's impressive I have to say it's never struck me as an elephant. The signature on the shirt is that of Ryan McStay, a midfielder who also played for such Scottish football luminaries as Falkirk and Partick Thistle.
