|HOME/AWAY||Away||COUNTRY||Brazil Sao Paulo|
Brazil's multicultural origins are amply demonstrated by the history of this particular club. They are from the port city of Santos and are significantly less well known than their eponymous city neighbours. They were founded by Spanish immigrants (thus the colours) and originally called Hespanha. They were told to change their name during World War II at the point in 1942 when Brazil declared war even though Spain technically weren't belligerents. Regardless of the finer points of geopolitical events the club chose the name Jabaquara. If you're ever looking for this team you'll find them in the lower divisions of the Sao Paulo state championships. My good friend Bira sent me this fantastic shirt from his native Brazil.
