TEAM Newell's Old Boys SEASON(S) 2007
HOME/AWAY Home COUNTRY Argentina
MANUFACTURER Topper

This shirt was the 500th shirt added to the collection and I'm happy it was such an unusual shirt that did it. The shirt isn't without it's problems as the badge clearly says "NOB" and has a liberal use of glitter which is just plain strange. Newells are a club formed, not surprisingly by a group of former pupils of an English teacher in Argentina. Their nickname is the "Lepers" which I'm led to believe comes from their willingness to play a benefit match for a leprosy hospital while their rivals, Rosario Central declined to do so. Apparently the nickname started out as an insult but eventually was adopted by Newell's fans as a badge of honour. The club count the great Leo Messi amongst their fans, pity the couldn't count him amongst their players.
