Panathinaikos traditionally play in dark green so it seems strange to have a third shirt which is also green, a much lighter green than normal but green nonetheless. Credit has to go to Adidas for making the shirt work as well as it does. 2006 was something of a vintage year for Adidas shirts and choice of colour and material for this shirt make it a fine example. The shirt carries the name and number of Greek striker Dimitris Salpingidis. Salpingidis spent four seasons at Panathinaikos and is probably best known outside Greece for his goal at the 2010 World Cup for a turgid Greek side. The three stripe style numbering font used by Adidas on the back of this shirt is a really nice retro feature.
