If any club from the Chinese Super League made a global splash it was Shanghai Shenhua when they signed Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba from Chelsea although both players were back in Europe after a fairly short time. This shirt dates from some time before that when the club was actually known as Shanghai Shenhua SVA SMEG which carried the name of both he club's previous and erstwhile sponsors. It is something of an irony that in a country like China which has a nominally communist regime the football teams are named after multiple sponsors. Sadly for the club, and Chinese domestic football in general, they are as well known for corruption and having previous league titles stripped from them as they are for anything football related. The shirt is a fairly standard Umbro kit.
